KD Neurosurgery Fellowship

Welcome to the neurology fellowship program at KD Hospital. Our program is dedicated to cultivating highly skilled and compassionate neurologists by providing rigorous training, comprehensive education, and a strong emphasis on research and patient-centered care. Through a balanced approach, we aim to foster expertise in clinical practice while promoting innovation and advancing the field of neurology. We strive to cultivate leaders who are prepared to advance the field of neurology and improve patient outcomes through innovative clinical practices and research.

Our fellowship offers training in several subspecialties, allowing fellows to tailor their educational experience:

  • Stroke and vascular neurology: Focus on the diagnosis and management of cerebrovascular diseases.
  • Epilepsy and clinical neurophysiology: Training in the evaluation and treatment of patients with seizure disorders.
  • Neuromuscular disorders: Comprehensive training in diagnosing and managing diseases affecting peripheral nerves and muscles.
  • Neurocritical care: Intensive training in managing critically ill patients with neurological conditions.
  • Pediatric neurology: Specialisation in neurological conditions affecting children, including developmental disorders and congenital malformations.

The neurology fellowship program aims to:

  • Advanced clinical skills: Fellows will acquire advanced proficiency in diagnosing and managing complex neurological conditions, honing their ability to provide expert care in challenging cases and develop comprehensive treatment strategies tailored to individual patient needs.
  • Encourage research: Fellows will engage in scholarly activities, with opportunities to publish and present their work.
  • Promote education: Fellows will participate in teaching residents and medical students, enhancing their educational experience.
  • Foster professional development: Training in leadership and professionalism, preparing fellows for future roles in academia and clinical practice.

Clinical rotations

  • Inpatient care: Fellows will manage hospitalised patients with neurological disorders, gaining experience in acute care settings.
  • Outpatient clinics: Fellows will conduct outpatient evaluations, follow-ups, and management of chronic neurological conditions.
  • Subspecialty clinics: Rotations in various subspecialty clinics to gain targeted experience, such as stroke units, epilepsy monitoring units, and neuromuscular clinics.
  • Research opportunities: Fellows will engage in ongoing research projects within our department, with faculty mentorship to support their work.
  • Opportunities for collaboration: Fellows will have the chance to collaborate with various departments, fostering interdisciplinary research initiatives and enhancing the integration of diverse expertise to address complex neurological challenges.

Didactic sessions

  • Weekly seminars covering core topics in neurology, including pathophysiology, diagnostics, and therapeutic approaches.
  • Journal clubs to discuss recent research articles and advancements in neurology.
  • Case-based learning sessions to enhance diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.

Mentorship

  • Each fellow will be paired with a faculty mentor who will guide clinical practice, research projects, and career development.
  • Regular mentorship meetings to discuss progress set goals, and receive constructive feedback.

To apply for the neurology fellowship program, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational background: Hold an MD neurology or DNB neurology or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.
  • Candidates must be registered with the Medical Council of India.

Interested candidates must submit the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV): A comprehensive overview of your educational background, clinical experience in arthroplasty, and any prior research contributions in the field. It should highlight key achievements, specialised training, and relevant skills to demonstrate your expertise and commitment to advancing arthroplasty practices.
  • Personal statement: Explaining their interest in the field, career goals, and how the fellowship will contribute to their professional development.
  • Letters of recommendation: At least three letters from mentors or supervisors who can attest to the applicant's surgical skills, professionalism, and commitment to joint reconstruction.
  • Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview with the selection committee.
