Home More About KD Foundation Project Disha
According to the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB), India is home to approximately one-third of the world's population with visual impairments.

Despite the critical issue of avoidable blindness in developing countries, studies have shown that only a small percentage of individuals in need of treatment seek help. To address this challenge, we have launched "Project Disha," an eye care initiative that brings services directly to patients' doorsteps, eliminating the need for them to travel to a hospital. Project Disha, a community-driven initiative by KD Hospital in Ahmedabad, aims to eradicate avoidable blindness by providing comprehensive eye care to under served communities. Through this program, we are striving to ensure that no one is left behind in receiving the eye care they need.

Goals and objectives of Project Disha:

  • To target and eradicate avoidable blindness.
  • To provide quality, timely and affordable treatment.
  • Promote eye health among locals.
  • To establish a network of eye care centres for treatment and rehabilitation.
  • To train local volunteers to facilitate eye care in their respective areas.
